The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF)
WRCT Ecologist Dr. K.S.
Anoop Das has been awarded a grant by the CEPF for his project titled "Evaluation
of aquatic insect diversity in natural water-filled tree holes and their
artificial analogues, in a tropical rainforest". This
study will be conducted at New-Amarambalam Reserved Forest, Nilambur,
-one of the important biodiversity areas- in the Western Ghats.

KSCSTE- Seminar grant
WRCT Ecologist Dr. K.S.
Anoop Das has received a Seminar grant to conduct "Get-together for the
planet earth" from Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and
Environment as a part of the World Environment Day-2009 celebrations at MES Mampad
College.
New interns joins the
WRCT family
M. Jamshi and M. Divin
Murukesh of MES Mampad College have joined WRCT as interns. Jamshi will
be working in a project on the diversity of ants in the agricultural and
semi-natural habitats in Nilambur, and Divin will be working in a
project assessing the impact of vehicular traffic on the fauna in the
state highway (Nilambur-Gudallur) traversing the Nilambur ghats.
UNEP Eco-Peace
Leadership Award
WRCT associate R. Dhanya,
has been selected for the UNEP Eco-Peace Leadership Award under the
Urban Ecology & Environment category. She will be participating in an
orientation programme and training in South Korea by the end of 2009 as
a part of this programme.

Maniben Kritilal Mehta Endowment-Gold Medal
WRCT Ecologist Debanik
Mukherjee has been awarded Maniben Kritilal Mehta Endowment-Gold Medal
for the best Ph. D thesis in Zoology submitted to Bharathiar University, Coimbatore during 2007-08 academic
year.
