Research interests

Ecology of mammals, birds and herpetofauna, Environmental Education, Human-wildlife conflict issues, environmental economics and community based conservation.

Appointments and research experience

2009-present: Senior Research Fellow, G.B. Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment and Development, NE Unit, Itanagar in a project entitled 'Cultural Landscape: the basis for linking Biodiversity conservation with sustainable Development of Arunachal Pradesh, India'.

2008-2009: Junior Research Fellow, G.B. Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment and Development, NE Unit, Itanagar in a project entitled 'Response assessment and processing of knowledge base to serve long term management and use of biodiversity in the Himalaya- focus on representative protected sites'.

2008: Education and Youth Programme Coordinator in ENVIRON, Guwahati, Assam, India.

2007: Community Education Officer and Project Site Manager, Pigmy Hog Conservation Program (PHCP), Manas National Park, India.

2004-2009: Participated as a volunteer in various wildlife research and conservation education programmes:

  • Assisted in various field research activities under Wetland and Water Fowl Conservation Campaign 2003 of Nature's Foster and continuously monitors the avian diversity and wetland status of western Assam under Asian Waterfowl Census Programme.

  • Worked in various community conservation and outreach activities of ENVIRON and volunteered as a coordinated the Youth mobilization wing of ENVIRON, Guwahati.

  • Assisted in a project on the documentation of Diversity and Ecological status of Mammalian, Herpetofauna and Avifauna of Different habitat types of Cachar District, Assam at the School of Environmental Sciences, Assam University.

  • Assisted in a project on the Ecology of Mammalian species with special reference to Phayre's Leaf Monkey (Trachypithacus phayrei) in the degraded forest habitats and Conservation Education in nearby villages of Cachar District, Assam at the School of Environmental Science, Assam University.
