Research interests

My interests are mainly focused on the ecology of human-dominated landscapes, conservation of native species and environmental education.

Appointments and research experience

2005-present: Ph. D. Scholar at SACON, Coimbatore working the ecology of House sparrows in the urban environment.

2005-present: Research Fellow, at SACON, Coimbatore in projects titled "Ecology and Status of the House sparrow in Coimbatore District" & "A proposal for Conservation of Pallikaranai wetland".

2005-2008: worked as a resource person at SACON, Coimbatore, for projects on "Blewitt owlet, Arakku Valley, Andhra Pradesh" and "Monitoring the execution of Conservation Plan for Flora and Fauna of Kolli Bauxite Mines, Kolli Hills".

2002-2004: During my masters at Pondicherry University, I did a group project on "jungle birds, Auroville Ashram, Pondicherry, India", a summer project on "Paddy field ecosystem - Faunal component" and final semester project on "Eco-hydrology of fresh water fishes" at M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation, Wyanad, Kerala, India.


Fellowships/awards/grants

Junior Research Fellowship: Ministry of Environment and forests, through SACON.

UNEP-Eco peace leadership programme-2009: This includes training at the Kangwon National University, South Korea and a study grant of 2000 US Dollars.

Awarded with the President Guide title for the year - 1997.
