Research interests

My principal research interests fall within the fields of taxonomy, evolutionary ecology, community ecology and conservation biology of reptiles. My present work and interests are in the taxonomy, systematics and evolution of Gekkonids, Scincids, Lacertids, Agamids Varanids, primitive burrowing snake taxa (Typhlopids & Uropeltids) and higher snake taxa (Colubrids, Elapids & Viperids); conservation ecology of rare and data deficient species and community ecology of Indian reptiles.

Appointments and research experience

2007-Till date: Field Biologist (herpetology) with University of Delhi, Delhi-110007, India for the herpetological surveys in the Yamuna river basin and Aravalli hill ranges.

2002-2007: Junior Research Fellow for the doctoral degree in the Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History (SACON), Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India.

2001-2002: called to identify various preserved reptile specimens in Section - Reptilia, Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), Calcutta.


Fellowships/awards/grants

Maniben Kirtilal Mehta Gold Medal for the best Ph.D. Thesis in Zoology during the year 2007, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, India.

Junior Research Fellowship from Ministry of Environment and Forests, Govt. of India, through SACON, during 2002-2007
